It isn't stressing me out. I have perfect peace, to God be the glory. This is insane for me to say, because seriously I am indecisive about everything from buying fruit to choosing a parking space. But college? I made my decision, and here I go.
The Lord is so gracious, so compassionate. He comes to our level, our place, and meets us where we are. Through a dear friend, He met me wear I was. (Because four months ago, I WAS stressed out and indecisive.)
This friend, much wiser than I, told me this:
"You know, your college decision impacts the next four to five years of your life. After that, you will most likely make another decision. Then, several years later, another. The decision you make now doesn't "determine the Rest of Your Life", only the next few years of your life. So don't worry about it."
I'm not sure why, but I had never thought of it quite like that. Probably because the jargon of our day asks 18-year-olds "What do you want to do with your life?" And we think that all of our decisions ~ where we go to school, what we major in, what job we get, and what flavor ice cream we choose ~ are the same question in one that literally impacts us from now until we die.
Well, let me put your mind at ease:
They aren't and it doesn't.
They aren't the same question (fortunately, we can choose a different flavor ice cream Every Time we go to Culvers!) and it doesn't impact "Foooooooooreveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer." Just a few years. Then, you make a new decision.
What freedom that gives us!
And I cannot wait: Texas, here I come!
